Why People Are So Important?

Most of us want to love others well, but there is a kind of love that goes far beyond what we can produce on our own. The Greek New Testament distinguishes between phileo, a warm and genuine friendship love, and agape, the unconditional, self-giving love of God. Peter's story illustrates this perfectly. He was deeply devoted to Jesus, yet he denied Him three times because he was running on the wrong kind of fuel. After the resurrection, Jesus restored Peter not with shame but with grace, meeting him exactly where he was. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit transformed Peter's phileo love into agape love, and the results were extraordinary. Agape love is not something we manufacture. It is something we receive from God and then cannot help but give away.
