FAQs About Groups @ NEC

What are “groups”?
Groups (sometimes called “small groups”) are simply gatherings of people who meet once a week—or whenever works—to talk about life, ask questions, share stories, and support one another. It’s community, not curriculum. You can be part of one group or a few, and they meet on different days and times throughout the week. New groups are launching all the time, so it’s easy to jump in!

What’s a “Journey group”?
If you're new to NEC or new to groups, Journey Groups are the perfect place to start. They run for just seven weeks and are designed to help you get a feel for how groups work—no pressure, no prep, no prior knowledge needed. Just show up, be yourself, and meet some great people.

Do I have to be a member to join a group?
Not at all. In fact, you don’t even have to attend NEC to be part of a group! We’re all about helping people connect—wherever they’re at and however they’re most comfortable.

Will I be the only new person?
Definitely not. While some groups have been together for a while, many are brand new—and most people are just like you, checking it out for the first time. No cliques here. Just welcoming people and open seats.

Can I try more than one group?
Yes, please do! If a group doesn’t quite feel like the right fit, try another. We want you to find a group where you feel at home.

How do I sign up?
Super simple! Click on any of the group images above to explore and sign up. Or, stop by Guest Services on a Sunday—we’d love to help you find your spot.

Still have questions?
Our Small Groups Team would love to hear from you! Email us anytime at smallgroups@nechapel.org. We’re here to help.
