Listening to God in the Age of Message Overload

We live in a world that expects everything instantly, and that mindset can quietly shape how we approach God. But God is not a smartphone app, and prayer is not a transaction. The Lord's Prayer, found in Matthew 6, gives us a guide for how to approach God with honesty and humility rather than performance. One of its most powerful lines is a surrendering prayer: Your kingdom come, Your will be done. When we pray that way, we stop trying to manage God and start letting Him shape us. A simple daily practice like the Examen, developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola, can help us slow down, become aware of God's presence, and bring our real selves to Him. The slow, uncomfortable seasons are not wasted. They are often where the deepest transformation happens.
