A caring ministry providing hope, community & resources to those in need

The Doorways Team is a group of staff and volunteers from New England Chapel who assist individuals/families in need with navigating various community-based programs and services. Our ministry is not made up of professionals, rather we are compassionate people willing to come alongside those who are facing difficult times and wish to receive encouragement, friendship, practical advice and support. We provide basic assistance and services across 11 Care Teams that

Housing:
This may include referrals to emergency shelters, transitional housing, local and state housing agencies and other nonprofits that may provide rental assistance based on eligibility requirements. The Housing Care Team may also provide practical guidance in helping someone research a new apartment, rooming house or other housing situation.

Financial Management:
Practical guidance and advice on money habits, creating and staying within a budget. The Financial Care Team can provide practical wisdom based on personal experience as well as offering more comprehensive instruction in a nationally recognized educational program called Financial Peace.

Employment:
Assistance and (non-professional) advice with job searching, resume writing, preparing for interviews, referrals to temporary employment agencies and other related activities.

Transportation:
Our team helps individuals access reliable transportation for work, medical appointments, errands, or church activities. This may include coordinating rides with volunteers, offering guidance on local transit options, or assisting with car-related needs when possible.

Spiritual/Mental/Physical Wellbeing:
This team offers a holistic approach to care, encouraging people in their spiritual walk while being attentive to their emotional and physical needs. Volunteers may pray with individuals, offer a listening ear, and help connect them with local counselors, medical providers, or wellness resources.

Addiction & Recovery:
We walk alongside individuals facing addiction or in recovery. Our volunteers provide understanding, accountability, encouragement, and can refer people to local recovery groups or treatment resources as needed.

Immigration:
We assist individuals and families navigating immigration-related challenges. This includes help with finding local legal aid, accessing community resources, and offering friendship during what can be an overwhelming process.

Family/Marriage and Elder Assistance:
This team supports families, couples, and seniors by offering encouragement and practical resources. Whether it's walking with someone through a parenting struggle, connecting a couple with support, or checking in on an isolated elder, we offer care that meets people where they are.

Food Security:
We help individuals and families access food through local pantries, food assistance programs, and other resources. Volunteers may also help with short-term grocery needs or meal coordination in times of crisis.

Legal:
When someone is dealing with a legal issue, our team offers presence, not legal advice. We provide a listening ear, encouragement, and help connect individuals with trusted legal aid organizations.

Veteran Support:
Veterans supporting veterans. This team offers camaraderie, guidance, and understanding for those who have served in the military and are navigating the challenges of civilian life.
